IOP IS NOW AVAILABLE!
For several years the traditional Intensive Outpatient (IOP) model has been the treatment of choice for individuals who did not meet the criteria for inpatient treatment, but required a more intensive treatment plan than traditional outpatient provides. The traditional model IOP was designed to treatment larger numbers of people for less cost than the inpatient setting. In searching for an appropriate model programs gravitated to a model which has been primarily group. This type of model has ignored the individualization of the patient and has been a one size fits all. Individuals more specifically adolescents, are not a one size fits all; there are a plethora of different needs that adolescents experience.
What Makes This Program Different?
This model encompasses a number of different modalities of treatment. It meets the adolescent where they are and explores seriously the needs of the adolescent in need of treatment. This model evaluates the background of the adolescent and determines strengths and weakness, identifying what is actually needed.
If the person has been in a residential treatment program for a minimum of 2 weeks do they really need to be retaught the same educational material? Where as a adolescent who is new to treatment would require an understanding of the neurophysiology of the brain and the impact that mental illness and substances has on it. Most importantly this model from the onset will address all aspects of the adolescent in a collaborative manner, assisting them in reconnecting with their feeling. |
